Shoulder Surgery | Back Surgery | Hip Surgery | Knee Surgery | Orthopaedic Procedures

THE INSPIRE DIFFERENCE
Physiotherapy + Podiatry = A More Complete Recovery
One of the advantages of physiotherapy within Inspire Podiatry is the ability to consider the whole movement system.
Your feet, ankles, knees, hips and spine all work together. Where appropriate, our podiatrists and physiotherapists can work collaboratively to identify contributing biomechanical factors and develop a more comprehensive plan for recovery. For chronic conditions we can offer PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) injections for hip, knee and ankle pain.
This integrated approach can be particularly valuable for persistent injuries, lower-limb pain, running injuries, sports rehabilitation and return-to-performance programs.
Conditions That Benefit Most From Combined Care
PRP Injections Available
For chronic hip, knee and ankle conditions, we can offer Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation approach.
Don’t Just Treat the Pain. Understand the Why.
Pain can stop you from exercising, playing sport, working comfortably or enjoying everyday life.
Our job is to help you understand what is happening, create a clear plan and give you the tools to take control of your recovery.
Your goals. Your body. Your rehabilitation.
Inspire Podiatry – North Brisbane’s choice for integrated podiatry, physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
FAQs
What is actually causing my knee or hip pain?
Knee and hip pain is typically driven by muscle imbalances, tendinopathy, cartilage or meniscus wear, bursitis, osteoarthritis, ligament sprains, or mechanical faults in adjacent joints like the foot and lower back. Inspire Podiatry evaluates the entire lower-limb kinetic chain to diagnose the true driver of your symptoms.
Could my knee pain actually be coming from my hip (or vice versa)?
Yes. Hip weakness frequently alters lower-limb mechanics—such as causing the knee to collapse inward—which places abnormal stress on the knee joint. Additionally, hip joint pathology often refers pain directly into the thigh and knee, making whole-chain assessment essential for lasting relief.
Inspire Tip: Our physiotherapists always assess both joints and the full lower-limb movement pattern, because treating just where it hurts often misses the real cause.
Should I see a physiotherapist or a doctor first?
You can see a physiotherapist first. Physiotherapists are primary contact practitioners qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal injuries without a GP referral. If diagnostic imaging or medical intervention is required, your physiotherapist will refer you directly.

How long will it take to recover from my knee or hip pain?
Recovery timelines depend on tissue type, chronicity, and rehabilitation consistency:
Acute strains or sprains: 3 to 6 weeks
Patellofemoral pain: 6 to 12 weeks
Tendinopathy: 8 to 16 weeks
Post-surgical rehabilitation: 3 to 6 months
Osteoarthritis: Ongoing management with targeted functional gains.
What happens at my first physiotherapy appointment?
Your 45-minute initial consultation includes a comprehensive medical history, a hands-on biomechanical and strength examination, and immediate commencement of your personalised treatment plan. Please wear loose clothing or shorts for movement testing.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to book a physiotherapy appointment?
No. Private and self-funded patients do not require a referral to book. A GP referral is only necessary if you are claiming through Medicare (Chronic Disease Management plans), WorkCover, third-party insurance, or veteran health cover.
Can physiotherapy treat knee osteoarthritis?
Yes. Progressive strengthening and exercise therapy represent the clinical first-line treatment for knee osteoarthritis, significantly reducing joint load, relieving pain, and improving mobility. Our physiotherapists also look at how adjacent joints (hip, foot/ankle) contribute to knee loading, and where appropriate can incorporate our podiatry team’s expertise in gait and footwear. For persistent cases, PRP injection therapy is also available at our Albany Creek clinic.
