Inspire Podiatry podiatrists offer “physio for the feet” and are experts at treating acute and chronic ankle pain. Pain in the ankle can be from an ankle sprain, tendon strain or ligamentous injury. Even if you have a mild injury, it is really important to have it professionally assessed by an expert who deals with the ankle joint and ankle pain everyday.
Inspire Podiatrists ensure we accurately diagnose your ankle pain. We treat the amount of ankle swelling and assess the ligaments and tendons involved in the injured ankle. Sometimes there may be a tear or chronic thickening of the Achillies tendon which results in a weakness or instability in the ankle.
When the ankle is rolled or if an ankle is twisted during a sporting activity, the ligaments that connect bone to bone that can be over stretched or torn. An x-ray will not reveal this soft tissue trauma. If imaging such as x-ray or ultrasound are required we can refer you for these. It's important to know that you don’t need a referral to see a sports podiatrist.
Your long term foot health is important to us! Did you know if an acute ankle injury such as a tear to the anterior talo-fibular ligament is left untreated this can cause a painful adult flat foot in later life. Furthermore, it can also lead to early onset of arthritis in the foot.
